The kitchen is probably the most expensive room in the house, would you agree?  Consider the refrigerator, oven, dishwasher, cabinet and flooring in a home.  Upgrading a kitchen could cost a considerable amount of money.  But, if you are looking to buy or sell, the kitchen could be a deal maker/breaker.

I remember when we moved into our first house.  My wife loved the size of the kitchen but the colors were horrible; blue and yellow.  The size of the kitchen seemed to overshadow the color scheme.  After looking at several homes my wife really wanted the ranch home with the big, blue and yellow kitchen.  We negotiated $3,000 off the asking price, and used the kitchen as our basis to find other things wrong with the house.  I can almost guarantee if the kitchen’s color scheme were more neutral, the sellers would have received an offer closer to their original asking price.

Lesson learned – what appears nice to you may be unattractive to someone else.  You can’t go wrong using a neutral color.
